Africa > Sub Sahara

Southern Africa is one of the most beautiful, least developed places on Earth. With greener scenery than North Africa, the sub-Saharan countries are home to many delights, some famous and some unexpected. Alongside the incredible game reserves and natural wonders, you will find many of the new world’s great vineyards, miles and miles of golden beaches and some fantastic resorts.

Sights such as Table Mountain in South Africa, the vast expanse of the Kalahari Desert and Kenya’s incredible national parks will leave you speechless. Nowhere else on Earth has such a diverse wealth of natural landmarks, still as nature intended.

Africa’s amazing landscapes are home to hundreds of unique species, from the mighty lion to an assortment of stunningly beautiful birds. A holiday in Sub-Saharan Africa offers the perfect opportunity for children and adults alike to see these animals where they belong: in the wild.

Of course, a holiday in Africa also offers you the perfect opportunity to stray from the beaten track. More experienced independent travellers will find such a vast expanse the perfect challenge and could well find themselves staying longer than expected. Whatever you want to get out of your time in Africa, you could consider:

  • Visit some of the oldest mosques in the world in the desert cities od Mali or the historical treasures of Ethiopia, the source of the great blue Nile
  • Get up close and personal with the mountain gorillas of Rwanda, or witness the famous wildebeest migration on the endless plains of the Serengeti
  • Gasp at the spectacular Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, canoe the Zambezi or tackle the world’s largest free standing mountain, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.
  • Take the train from Pretoria to Cape Town and follow the Garden Route along the beautiful coastline of the Western Cape
  • For a safari with a difference, why not try a horseback safari, or take in the breathtaking views from a hot air balloon
