Europe > Greece

Beautiful weather and clear waters await you in Greece and the Greek Islands. They are ideal destinations for a beach holiday but you will find so much more than just sandy shoreline when you arrive. With more than fourteen hundred islands dotted throughout the Aegean and Ionian Sea, there’s a lot of beautiful coastline for you to take in!

Often called ‘the cradle of Western civilisation’, capital city Athens is a vibrant place, with amazing nightlife. During the day, take time out to visit the Acropolis. By night, visit one of Athens’ open air cinemas or tremendous selection of theatres. Athens is home to some of Europe’s finest nightclubs, many of which don’t finish until the early hours of the morning. The chic Kolonaki area, near Syntagma Square, has a number of boutiques catering to well-heeled customers by day, with stylish bars and restaurants for night time entertainment. Where better to let off steam?

Outside of Athens, Greece offers great opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and sailing. Sun worshippers will love the miles of sandy beaches during the hot mid-summer months, while most people find early or late summer the best time to visit, as the heat is gentler.

Diving holidays are popular in the sea around Greece and the islands. The water is stunningly clear and offers a great opportunity for beginners and experts alike to explore the deep.

  • Island-hop on a luxury yacht and visit some of the more remote and uninhabited of the lush Ionian islands, famed for their white beaches, olive groves and turquoise waters
  • Learn the secrets of Greek cookery from a master and spend your evenings at traditional tavernas on the little South Dodecanese island of Symi
  • Follow the ancient trails of Evia, Andros and Tinos on an Aegean islands hike and continue your trip by boat with a Caique cruise, searching out quiet coves for swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing
  • Explore the classical sites of Greek Macedonia on an archaeological tour, featuring visits to the birthplace of Alexander the Great, the tomb of Phillip II and Mount Olympus
  • Marvel at the Parthenon and Acropolis in Athens, or travel inland to Meteora with its ancient Byzantine Monasteries and churches

Greece is great all year round, but the summers can get extremely hot. The largest islands continue to take tourists over the winter, but many of the smaller islands close tourist facilities.
