Two of Europe’s warmest and most vibrant countries, Spain and Portugal are perfect destinations for either a relaxing break or a full on fiesta.

 

Spain’s coastal regions have some of Europe’s finest weather, with clear skies and a gentle heat, perfect for relaxation. Many popular tourist resorts along the Costa del Sol and Costa Brava offer a great variety of clubs and bars, perfect for a week away from it all. More varied nightlife can be found in the cities.

 

Catalan capital Barcelona is one of the most distinctive, beautiful and interesting cities on Earth. See Gaudi’s amazing architecture, or decamp to the Nou Camp and the amazing spectacle of an FC Barcelona match. The city’s restaurants, bars and clubs really come alive at night, and don’t stop until the early hours.

 

Madrid offers a sophisticated and distinctly Spanish experience for the traveller. A city of passion and flair, you will find friends easy to make.

 

Spain and Portugal have some of the best beaches in Europe, perfect for a family holiday. The warm waters of the Mediterranean are great for swimming and diving from April through to October, although the high summer months can get very hot. Great year-round holidays can be taken in the Canary Islands, which sit near the equator and cater brilliantly both for families and travellers looking for thrills and spills.  

 

The best months to visit Spain and Portugal are in spring (April – May) and at the end of summer (September – October) when the temperature is very pleasant and there are fewer visitors. Great events worth checking out include Barcelona’s Sonar festival, held each June, and Madrid’s annual carnival.
