Bungee Jumping

Bungee jumping is an extreme sport that requires stacks of nerves! Jumping from an exceptionally high place  in a beautiful environment is an amazing experience. But when you consider what you're doing the rush will definitely kick in. A rubber cord is the only thing between you and the ground. But it really is a safe past time due to the number of safety checks by qualified staff at each jump site.

After jumping you free fall head first until the bungee stretches bounces you back. Since its' original conception there have been several million jumps. The highest commercial jump is located near Locarno, Switzerland and is reported to be 220m (722 feet) high. The jump was featured in the opening sequence of the James Bond film 'Goldeneye' and takes place from the Verzasca Dam.

The sport originated on the Pacific island of Pentecoste, where the native Venuatuan men jumped from bamboo towers with vines tied to their ankles to prove their manhood. This act was filmed by David Attenborough and a BBC film crew in the 1950s. The footage inspired four members of the Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club to use elastic rope in an urban version of vine jumping. The first modern bungee jump was made from the Clifton Suspension Bridge (Bristol) on 1st April, 1979. Not surprisingly all the jumpers were arrested, but they weren't deterred and went off to the US to jump from the Golden Gate and Royal Gorges Bridges. In 1982 they put on commercial displays by jumping from hot air balloons and mobile cranes which helped to increase bungee jumping's popularity.

Wherever you are travelling to BTB can arange a bungee jump for you to add something else to your trip. The team will also be happy to build an entire itinerary for you too.
