Coasteering

Coasteering is what you call extreme! One of the UK's newest and most exciting water sports and a once in a lifetime experience which combines climbing, scrambling, swimming, rappelling and cliff jumping.

This physical activity takes place along the inter tidal zone of rocky coastlines that only locals know about. Coasteering gives participants the opportunity to experience waves, rocks, gullies, caves and the buzz of a high energy environment.

Although all aspects of coasteering have been in practice for many years, the term itself wasn't coined until about 1973. The sport really took off in the 1990's when it became a guided recreational activity along the cliff coastline of Pembrokeshire in Wales. Britain's west coast is still the principal location for coasteering although its popularity has spread to New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the USA.

The basic individual equipment includes a wet suit, protective clothing and gloves to prevent abrasions, a buoyancy aid, helmet and specific shoes.

If you're up for an exhilarating time with mates in a cracking setting coasteering is the way forward. BTB can arrange a day of coasteering at any UK centre and full itinerary packages (flights, accomodation & transfers) throughout the world.
